Visiting and Attandant Rules

VISITING HOURS AND DURATION

  • For Inpatient Clinics: between 09.00 – 20.00 max. 10 minutes
  • For Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): between 09.30-17.30 max. 5 minutes
  • For Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 19.00 – 20.00 max. 5 minutes
  • Daily visits are available in our hospital.
  • Visit patients during visiting hours.
  • Keep your visits short and stay only 5-10 minutes.
  • Beware that intensive care units have their own special visiting policies. Please follow these rules carefully.

WHO IS INFORMED ABOUT THE PATIENT'S HEALTH?

  • If the patient is an adult and conscious, the patient and/or the first degree relative (legal representative) confirmed by the patient
  • If the patient is unconscious; first degree relatives (legal representatives)
  • If the patient is a child, immediate family members
  • Third parties are not informed about the patient.

WHICH PATIENTS SHOULD NOT BE VISITED?

  • Patients in intensive care
  • Patients with infectious diseases
  • Patients with an impaired immune system (patients who are having cancer treatment, steroid treatment, etc.)
  • Patients whose doctors do not allow visitors (restricted visitors - for these patients ask their doctors for convenient times to visit)

WHO SHOULD NOT VISIT PATIENTS?

  • Children below 12
  • People who have infectious diseases and complaints such as cough, fever etc.
  • People who have chronic diseases
  • People who have impaired immune system
  • If your visit is urgent, consult to the unit nurse to learn and follow the appropriate personal protective measures.

WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED WHEN VISITING A PATIENT?

  • More than two visitors at a time are not allowed.
  • Young children (under age 12) are requested not to visit since they are vulnerable to infectious and psychological effects.
  • Do not sit on patients beds during your visits.
  • Do Do not touch any of the medical equipment by the bedside or in the room. If you do anyway, please acknowledge the nurse in the unit.
  • Do not talk loudly in the room.
  • Patients should follow a special diet. Do not bring any food or drinks from outside for the patients.
  • You can bring things like books, cologne, water etc.
  • Do not bring flowers for the patients .
  • Do not disturb other patients and do not ask personal questions during your visits. Demoralizing words and behaviors should be avoided during the visit.
  • Pay allention to patients’ privacy.
  • It is forbidden to misuse fire exit doors and staircases by patients, companions and visitors.
  • You cannot enter any of the hospital units intoxicated and you cannot consume alcoholic beverages inside the hospital. People who are intoxicated are notified to the Security Unit.
  • Do not make unnecessary and persistent visit requests outside visit times.
  • At the end of the visit, the hospital should be abandoned without waiting for the warnings of the officers.

WHY SHOULD NOT YOU PAY A VISIT AT NIGHT?

Night visits can cause problems both for the patients and the night shift personnel. At nights there are only night shift personnel which are not great in number. Visitors keep them busy thus reduce the quality of health care. They also jeopardize hospital’s security. Sleeping patients are disturbed thus patients’ rights are violated.

TO THE ATTENTION OF THE PATIENTS AND THEIR ATTENDANTS

  • Meal times;  Breakfast:07.00, Lunch: 12.00, Dinner: 17.00
  • Doctor visits; Morning: 08.00 – 09.00, Afternoon : 16.00 – 17.00
  • You should not leave the room without the notice of the nurse. Please inform the nurse even if you want to get out of your room for a short corridor walk or to take some fresh air.
  • You should not leave the room during treatment, doctor visits and meal times.
  • You should inform your primary physician and the nurse about your personal medicines you brought from home.
  • You may dial (0) from the telephone in your room to reach out to operator, you may then make external phone calls if needed.
  • Incase you want to order some food or beverage from the canteen or the kiosque in the hospital territory you may dial 420 or 166 on your room phone.
  • Do not give any food or beverage to your patient without consulting your primary physician or nurse.
  • It is important to follow the cleaning and hygiene rules while using the room toilet and bath.
  • Pay more attention to your own and patient’s personal hygiene (washing/cleaning hands, face, mouth and perineal care). If your patient is incapable of doing these on her/his own you should receive information from your nurse.
  • Do not forget to ask and receive your/patient’s medical record (anamnesis and epiciris) form at the time of your discharge. Please read and feel free to ask any questions if there is a part that you don’t understand.
  • Ask for your payment receipt and service scheme from the discharge desk before you leave the hospital.
  • We recommend you not to take the artificial flowers to your home to avoid the infection risk.
